I wanted to start a discussion about what skills are currently most valuable and sought after by employers here in Nepal. The job market is always evolving, and it's crucial for job seekers, especially fresh graduates and those looking to upskill, to know where to focus their efforts.
From my perspective, there's a growing demand for digital proficiency across almost all sectors. This isn't just about basic computer literacy anymore, but extends to more specialized areas.
For instance, skills in digital marketing, social media management, basic graphic design, and content creation are incredibly useful even outside of purely IT roles. Many businesses are moving online and need people who can help them establish and maintain their digital presence.
Beyond these, programming languages like Python or JavaScript, data analysis using tools like Excel or Power BI, and understanding of cloud platforms are highly valued in the tech sector. Even basic cybersecurity awareness is becoming a plus for many organizations.
However, let's not forget the evergreen soft skills. Strong communication, both written and verbal, problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and teamwork are always in high demand regardless of the industry. Employers are looking for individuals who can learn quickly and collaborate effectively.
