We all love our momo, chowmein, and dal bhat tarkari, and for good reason! They are staples of Nepali cuisine and incredibly delicious. However, sometimes I feel like we stick to these familiar favorites and miss out on the incredible diversity and depth of other authentic Nepali dishes.

I wanted to start a thread for us to share those lesser-known, truly authentic, or regional Nepali dishes that deserve more attention. What are your personal culinary "gems" that you think everyone should try, but might not find on every restaurant menu?

Please share the name of the dish, a brief description if it's not widely known, and most importantly, where one can find an excellent version of it. This could be a specific restaurant in Kathmandu, Pokhara, or any other city, or even a particular region known for that specialty.

Think about dishes from Newari, Thakali, Limbu, Marwari, or other regional cuisines that represent a rich part of our food heritage. Perhaps a unique soup, a special preparation of meat or vegetables, or a distinctive snack.

Let's broaden our Nepali food horizons together! I'm really looking forward to reading your recommendations and trying some new, authentic flavors. What amazing Nepali dishes have you discovered lately?
